According to the back of the bottle Maple Shack Cream Ale is a malty smooth cream ale wit ha hint of maple syrup with a mild hop bitterness. Supposedly it's a tribute to the maple shacks of the french Canadian province of Quebec.
It's made by Grandville Island Brewing Company in Kelowna British Columbia Canada and is part of their Under the Bridge Series. The brewery opened in 1984 and claims to be Canada's first micro brewery. GIB offers 26 different beers and a total of four in the Under the Bridge Series. I look forward to trying them all!
I definitely agree with the hoppy bitterness in the finish, but as a cream ale, I have had better. I certainly didn't taste any hint of maple. It was a good non offensive beer with a nice head of medium thickness. Would I drink it again? Sure, but it won't be my first choice.
Try it an let me know what you think.
