Is it just me, or is German beer always awesome? I have never had a bad German beer and Munich Gold lager continues this trend.
I guess, I shouldn't be surprised by this lager. The brewer Hacker-Pschorr has been brewing beer in the traditional Bavarian manner since 1417. That's 99 years before the German Purity Laws came into existence. These fellas have a little bit of experience brewing beer.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle's pop top was the loud pop from the carbonation. It certainly sounded fresh!
I found Munich Gold to be a smooth easy drinking lager that was nice and refreshing with a light aftertaste. I finished half the glass in about 5 seconds. It was that good! Carolyn on the other hand didn't like the aftertaste and consequently wasn't much of a fan. This surprised me, because I thought this lager would have been right in her wheel house.
It was easy to give Munich Gold four burps. If I drank it for a week or two, I might give it five burps. But it wasn't instant love, and for that reason, it only got four.
Drinking the world.
One beer at a time.
